Wow, I would never think that so amany American animations would be on the top DVD ranking scale. Is this because the shift to online viewing? I would find it amazing that stuff like Tom & Jerry cartoon franchise being nearly a century old would make it on the top 10 list..

Otaku have moved on to BD. They pay crazy prices so it only makes sense they'd prefer to do that and get the best quality in exchange for crazy prices. The everyday person hasn't made the switch though which is why all that family friendly stuff still makes the list: they prefer cheaper DVDs and there are more of them in Japan than hardcore anime collectors.

DVDs in Japan are for generally for fujoshi and the mainstream casual buyer. Otaku have all moved to BD more or less. Plus American movies sell for pretty cheap compared to anime. Those Tom & Jerry DVDs retail for 850 yen a volume. Attack on Titan sells 5000+ yen a volume
