Now I remember why I stopped watching after episode 1.

So the saving grace of the "Ranta is a sleazeball and wants to peep on girls" debacle was that 1. The series didn't actually show it so it wasn't being gross fanservice and 2. The other guys had actually tried to stop him so they were at least decent human beings I could sympathize with. This PV has completely invalidated those two clauses, as far as has been shown. It's not that I'm entirely surprised that this show is appealing to the lowest denominator being originally an LN, but I'd felt that, with few exceptions, the anime adaptation was trying to improve on the source material. Obviously I was giving the showrunners too much credit. What a waste of an otherwise gorgeous looking production

I'd forgive it if they pull a Fairy Tail and exploit the guys, too. Still disappointed Haruhiro bought actual pajamas, considering what he was (not) sleeping in in episode 1.

Of course. Because this is what we asked for, right? THIS IS WHAT WE WANTED, RIGHT? HALLELUJAH!
Same here. At least I'd know that the producers were considering their female audience. Hell, the group has FOUR male characters and they're not unattractive! But no, that would take time away from the two "Best Girl Candidates" and their need to feel each other up, because the lowest common denominator MUST BE CATERED TO. 'Tis the Law of Light Novel Adaptations. |

Yeah I don't really see the point, I'd imagine there's not much overlap between people still watching and people who want bath peeping scene.

This anime only has a few fanservice scenes and they're very brief. I'm glad that this show doesn't have heavy fanservice or else it'd ruin it. |

tbh I'm surprised at how little fanservice it has. I guess I'll just skip this "2.5 episode", and I hope they continue ditching the fanservice in the main episodes. |

I see their omission of the bathing scene was just business and not integrity. Oh well.
In their defense, you can easily just ignore this portion if it doesn't please you. The way I'll frame it is they nicely sectioned off the base pandering so those who wish to be pandered to can watch it and those that don't don't have to watch it. Heck if they keep that up, people watching the broadcast version won't have to see the common denominator and those who really want to will have there own area to view it. |

Love how people here just jump to calling this trash over this little bit. Over 1 single scene.

^It's an entire episode (or half an episode), I wouldn't call it little at all. It's not like this is the show's first strike, it already has the awful scene of Ranta shaming Shihoru about her body in episode one, the no-underwear incident in episode 3 and the camera's endless love for Yume's ass
It's true it's borderline tame as far as fanservice in anime goes, but it irks a lot of people because it's so jarring against the series's general tone it feels unnecessary and really out of place. The show has the potential to be a lot better than your average otaku LN power fantasy, but it's missing those opportunities in favor of targeting the lowest common denominator |

Did people actually watch that clip? It's mostly shots of the guy's arses...
I thought the whole point of that scene was to highlight how much of an unlikeable arsehole Ranta is. I certainly didn't take it any kind of deliberate attempt to attack women, or a bizarre attempt at appealing to male otaku. I took it as something that was supposed to make you uncomfortable with him. |

Bah, like I already said, you can't read butts in Light Novels. It doesn't surprise me that they would aim to incite the readers and while they're at it, the new audience to buy the BDs. In fact, this should not be the whole scene. According to Yume, the wall crumbled down for some reason, so it'll either be nothing more than this clip and the people just bought the BD for nothing, or there will be a little more.
Anyone can think what they want but this is anime, folks, not everybody can get by without pandering at least in some areas, and as far as anime goes, Grimgar is mostly tame. |

Sure you can. Several times reading LNs I just skim through character descriptions/character actions because the author is more focused on describing how seductive their breasts and butts are jiggling. |

Glad I don't read LNs then. Seems like as good an illustration of show don't tell as anything. Actually sounds less skeevy in a visual medium than a written one. |
