When I read the first volume I thought it was okay, a little dark, funny somewhat, but starting at Volume 2 it picked up to the point where I look forward to each new volume. I'm especially keen on Yamada. She's keeps this manga afloat. Ichikawa is where most of the humor comes from, but there's times where I want to reach into the manga and shake him, gloomy characters can drag a story down to the point where I'm no longer interested in their plight. I'm happy to hear there's an anime in the wings. If they keep the flavor and atmosphere it should be a winner. Hopefully they'll go with the two 15 minute segments per episode scheme. It has that groove in the manga.
