I'm not sure if you're being serious here, but the DQM games have little in common with Monster Hunter; they're about collecting and raising teams of monsters that fight for you in turn-based battles, rather than being action games with a focus on hunting monsters for drops to make equipment.
It'd be a little more accurate to say "Pokemon by way of Dragon Quest," although the first DQ game with monster collecting, Dragon Quest V, came out four years before the first Pokemon.

Also that last shot of IV's Hero gave me goosebumps!
