For once in a number of years, all the shows I am watching are in the 25%-50% band from the top rather than split between top/bottom 10. Feels good to be mainstream for once...

Where's Topaki's Original Sin? That's the #16 highest rated anime on MAL. I thought it would be #1 here for sure. Also, it's a crime that Rent-a-Girlfriend isn't top 10. Unless people are mad about Aleks Le and Lizzie Freeman not returning as the leads. That does have me a little steamed.

Typically, series that aren't listed aren't getting enough ratings for their community scores to qualify. Only 43 of the 60 or so series airing this season reach that threshold on ANN.
Can't really comment on RAG, since I don't follow that one.

I'm surprised but pleased to see Water Magician's extraordinary rise in the rankings. While it's normal for the cumulative to be quite volatile early on, I can't recall ever seeing a 12 slot leap like that (so even if it's happened before, it's probably rare). Even the 20 place leap between its first and second episode in the weekly rankings isn't super common.
I don't know if this means most of the people who hated the first ep dropped it like a rock, or if, like me, people are starting to see it's got more going on than its debut indicated it might. I'm really warming up to the two main characters, who are very different from each other but mesh well. And I'm finding Ryo himself to have more depth than expected. He's quickly becoming one of my favorite charactters this season. It's also nice that it hasn't turned into the Everybody Loves Ryo show (even though everybody does, other characters get to shine too). He hasn't even gathered a harem yet!
I don't think it's a top 10 show, but I hope it continues to find viewers and stay in the middle of the pack at least.

In terms of popularity it would definitely be in the rankings, except for the fact that it only has 6 episodes. That doesn't mesh with the way the rankings are structured to compare episodes week-by-week.

Looks like a surprising number of titles from the Preview Guide that didn't make the rankings, actually:
- Arknights: RISE FROM EMBER
- Cultural Exchange With a Game Centre Girl
- Dekin no Mogura: The Earthbound Mole
- Grand Blue Dreaming Season 2
- Hotel Inhumans
- KAMITSUBAKI CITY UNDER CONSTRUCTION
- Leviathan
- Mr. Osomatsu Season 4
- Necronomico and the Cosmic Horror Show
- Onmyo Kaiten Re:Birth Verse
- Puniru is a Kawaii Slime Season 2
- Takopi's Original Sin
- Uglymug, Epicfighter
I guess Leviathan is another case like Takopi, as a short Netflix series. As for how many others there are, well, I guess it is a pretty packed season.

It's a shame so many are apparently sleeping on Mogura. It's really very good, and definitely off the beaten track. If you liked Hōzuki no Reitetsu, you ought to like this as well, as it's by the same mangaka and has the same unusual and deadpan sense of humor. I dunno, maybe people didn't like Hōzuki either? Mogura is admittedly a very talky show, but I'm never bored by what they're talking about.
