The new dub for the "Conan vs the Black Organization" is actually really well done, and it's a trip to hear some of the cast from the FUNi dub come back, though in a limited sense
If you have been intimidated in getting into the show, that group of episodes is actually a fantastic way to do so as they cover the most important plot beats & have some of the tighter written moments - things go places. Hopefully the Conan vs. The Black Organization episodes that have been curated thus far make it to blu ray disc somehow. Love the specials included here |

Phantom of Baker Street is coming! After all these years, it is still so good.

Yay, more Conan movies!
I've heard Phantom of Baker Street is one of the best Conan movies and Jolly Roger in the Deep Azure is one of the weakest, but I'll for sure be there to watch both. Also be nice to watch another dubbed movie with The Crimson Love Letter. |

Watch the show from the beginning. Don't skip around or go by some "essential viewing guide" which almost assuredly is going to be awful and only consider the Black Organization episodes as the important ones. Commit to watching Detective Conan properly or don't bother, I say. |

Hey now lets not be to gate keepy. Detective conan does have a TON of filler episodes in the anime. and there are also a lot of cases especially near the beginning of the manga that don't contribute much of anything to the series. There is a lot of fantastic stuff to the series that is not black organization related, and we desperately need a dub for the desperate revival arc. but it is not unreasonable at all for people to skip filer or near filer content in the series. I will say you do need to watch (international number/western number) episode 13/14 and episodes 48-49/ 49-50 of the original dub in order for later events in the black organization vs episodes to fully make sense. And there are a lot of character specific storylines and arcs you will miss by only doing black organization episodes I would watch all the episodes this recommends and any episode that you look at the description for and go hey that sounds interesting. https://www.xerblade.com/p/detective-conan-important-episode-list.html?m=0 |

I really wish this series was more popular in the US.

lol, as a pretty big Conan fan, this is the LAST advice I'd ever give anyone. I'd definitely recommend reading all of the manga, and watching all of the movies (and specials), but the anime itself? No. People should absolutely pick-and-choose what to watch, and what to avoid. And the usual way to do that is to refer to the episode list on the DetectiveConanWorld wiki (there are like four different wikis, god knows why) which has handy little tags that make it very easy to see which episodes are worthwhile and which are not. I'm actually going through the anime now, and that's precisely what I did. Any episode without any tag is completely safe to skip, and I went very slightly further than that and also omitted any episode(s) with just the Detective Boys tag, too, and even then I'm looking at 500+ episodes in total. But I think the main sentiment behind your post is something I can support fully: that Detective Conan is about far more than the over-arcing Black Organization plot, and limiting any deep-dive into the series to only the BO material would be doing an immense disservice to everything that makes Detective Conan great. |
