No Shoujo on the list?!

Also, I’m still miffed nobody had picked up Ao no Orchestra S2 (or S1)!!!! It’s such a let down!

IMO, this is a relatively week season for me (but I’m willing to be proven wrong!)

The shows I’m most interested in are:

Spy x Family (I need my dose of cute)
Digimon Beatbreak (why oh why is it trapped on Hulu?$
One-Punch Man (the studio doesn’t inspire confidence, but I like the manga arc enough to watch anyway)
Gachiakuta cour 2 (does this count? I’m firmly on board at this point)

TBH, I don’t think anyone is prepared for how weird Sanda gets.

Jeremy has convinced me to try out The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess. The last time I took a chance on a reincarnated villainess premise, it worked out for me, so hope this is the same (From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad's Been Reincarnated!).

Isekai Quartet 3
Cinderella Gray
SpyxFamily
Campfire Cooking in Another World
One Punch Man 3, although I'll be keeping my expectations firmly in check

I'll also check out the various isekais, villainess and romcom shows, hoping there are a couple of good ones in there. I don't need classics, a show or two on the level of Tomo-Chan Is a Girl would do. Season is a bit lacking in slice of life though. Guess I can squeeze in a rewatch of Super Cub.

A calm season for me, which in this case means about 23 shows I will likely end up watching so calm is rather relative (though after the insanity that was summer it is welcome). If I were to name the shows I am most looking forward to they would be:

Spy x Family
Campfire Cooking
May I Ask for One Final Thing?
Sanda
Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray Part 2
Touring After the Apocalypse

I’m the most excited for Kakuriyo Season 2 and Who Made Me a Princess. I’ll also be watching Mechanical Marie and The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess. I’ll be continuing Himitsu no AiPri, Princession Orchestra and You and Idol Pretty Cure. I think this’ll be a great season for me!

Me scrolling through the list. Wow, what can possibly be more anticipated that anthology of works by most celebrated mangaka of the current age, new high profile entry in a beloved franchise from my childhood, remake of the most load-bearing rom-com in anime history, continuation of high-octane drama in the best sports anime franchise of the decade, which also happens to be tie-in for hottest gacha game in the market?

Me scrolling all the way down. Vore yuri. It's a [expletive] vore yuri. And I can't even object. If the only text in the preview was "Vore yuri", my reaction still would be "Yes, please, when exactly is it airing, I need to clear my schedule."

I hope in this season of Spy x Family we will see, aside from the rest...
spoiler[(the side ""romances"" for Franky, Fiona and Yuri -not a threesome, mind you)]

I’m most excited for Ginpachi-sensei. The stories aren’t written by Sorachi but they do still have the Gintama charm

On Kamen Rider, anime about middle-aged male losers are far more popular with western critics than ... basically anyone else. Plus have any of those anime adaptations of tokusatsu shows been successful? Or is it SSSS.Gridman, who owed its moderate hit status to being a Studio Trigger production, and everything else?

For The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess, interesting how that genre was supposed to be the next big thing never broke out. Kinda stinks because villainess shows are basically the only shoujo getting anime adaptations these days, probably because they have some multi-demo appeal potential.

For Sanda, the source material wasn't that highly regarded. Not a surprise. The background - yet another story about the government forcing spoiler[kids together to address the low birth rate crisis but without the ecchi stuff that usually accompanies it] - is "eh". And while I am tolerant of the "other cultures not translating well" stuff the idea of spoiler[Christmas going away because Santa disappears] is a bridge too far ... the biggest holiday for a spoiler[religion of 2.5 billion people, and the Santa stuff only being a prominent component of the holiday for less than 100 of the religion's 2000 years]?

While Uma Musume has been surprisingly durable, don't overestimate its popularity. A bigger question is why ANN is a much bigger fan of "horse girl racing" than sports anime generally. And while I understand why One Punch Man S3 isn't on here - S2 was awful and the trailers, preview material and rumors on S3 don't inspire confidence - no way that This Monster Wants to Eat Me is more anticipated than MHA Final Season. Yes, the show peaked in popularity after the 3rd season. Yes, everyone knows how it ends. Yes, few like said ending, including seemingly the author. But unless OPM S3 is actually good, it is still going to be the biggest hit this season.

I am also kind of sad that none of the shonen romances were mentioned (except for Ranma S2). Leaving off isekai harem stuff there are several: My Friend's Little Sister Has It In For Me (another in the trend of "girl teases boy that she likes" and remember that Nagatoro turned out better than everyone, including the adapters who gave S1 what was intended to be a conclusive series ending, expected), Awkward Senpai (following the recent "senpai" adult romcom workplace trend that included My Tiny Senpai, The Ice Guy And His Cool Female Colleague, and My Senpai Is Annoying), Expressionless Face Girl & Emotional Face Boy and Chitose Is in the Ramune Bottle, Yano-kun's Ordinary Days, A Star Brighter Than the Sun, etc. That is a loaded slate of shonen slice of life romcoms that don't include ecchi, harems, or fantasies involving naive innocent subservient robots and extraterrestrial beings (to be fair there are a couple of shows involving female robots but I left them out, plus one is shoujo, as I also left out S2 of a harem show) yet that pleasing development was completely and totally ignored.

Lots of good picks on this list of the ones mentioned I'm looking forward to the Sanda, The Fujimoto Shorts, and Digimon which might be my first one. My most aniticipate however is the final season of MHA, I've read the final 6 chapters, so I know how it ends, but I didn't read the final arc so I still don't know exactly how it's gonna end and I'm excited about it

I was a bit late to playing Gnosia (played it last year) but I'm very excited for the anime! The fact they made a very nonbinary player stand-in character is great, and I'm looking forward to seeing my girl SQ. There's enough of a solid plot in the game to make an anime so I think it should be okay, but it'll be a little less atmospheric because it won't have all the loops and random endings.

I'm also looking forward to "may I ask for one final thing". Scarlet is sooo cool. I really hope it gets a decent animation budget for her fight scenes.

I remember reading the dark history of the Villainess manga and coming away from it thinking it was pretty boring and kinda squandered a good premise, but maybe the anime would be more fun.

I'm not very good at keeping up with anime so I don't want to take on too much, but I might try to watch an episode of SI-VIS to see what it's like. Maybe that Towa anime too because the design and art style interest me.

I probably won't watch it but it's cool the other Fujimoto shorts are getting adaptations. I remember I really liked Nayuta of the Prophecy back when I read it years ago. I didn't keep up with CSM so when I heard there was a Nayuta character in that too I was like Huh??? But that's not Nayuta! She doesn't speak in Death Blood Apocalypse Slaughter.

But mostly I'll just be continuing with Princession Orchestra...
