S1 was a waste of time with below average art. The show might be returning for S2 but I won't be

I said the same thing about Campfire Cooking in Another World (except it was far more boring than unartistic).
But this series is a different story, in more ways than one. There's still a few unresolved plots in the first season that deserve a follow-up, and reading the light novel is just not the same.

Just because a story is unfinished, it does not necessarily warrant any follow-ups.
Especially if it's as unimaginative as this one, with below average art and animation, annoyingly dumb OP MC, madeup plot and weak humour.
Imho, this series did not even deserve one season, let alone a ssecond.

Isn’t every plot for a work of fiction made up? Like, sure, there are some stories that are based on true events, but at least some aspects are made up.
I’m not asking this because I liked this anime; I dropped it after episode 1 and, obviously, have no intentions of watching season 2. I’m just confused.

By made up, I meant there's no clear, logical plot. Things and conflicts just happen out of nowhere and since the MC is overpowered, he handles any and all illogical stuff thrown at him without second guessing anything.
You were right to drop it after ep1, there was absolutely no benefit to watch it until the end.

I enjoyed it for the nonsensical fun it was. Looking forward to a second season.

One of the few good anime this year, hopefully S2 is just as good.

Another season of halfwatching while I'm on the elliptical? Bring it on.

I found the first season surprisingly enjoyable, so this is great news for me!

Feels like the content barrel is running quite dry from Japanese media. Or at least ones easily accessible by the cheap anime teams (IE light novels and budget manga). Its why we are seeing a bunch of revivals of middling shows even after their first production committees ended. And its why we are seeing more chinese and korean origin anime (animation from Japan).
As for Atelier, at least it managed to be occasionally fun. Even if it didn't feel very original having a lot of elements from Last Boonies.

Oh yeah this was a fun little series. I'll be honest though, I completely forgot about it until just now so its a bit of a surprise seeing a season 2 announcement.

Show was a guilty pleasure. There's tons of shows about heroic OP characters, but clueless OP characters like here have their own charm.

Sure, why not, the first season was amusing enough.
