She used to adore the main love interest Prince Hartknights Lapis-Lazuli Lactomuth, but unfortunately, she was not reincarnated as the heroine, but rather as is his worst enemy—the villainess fiancée.

At their graduation ceremony, without blinking an eye, Hartknights condemns Tiararose for alleged crimes, breaks off his engagement, and proclaims the heroine Akari as his new bride-to-be. No matter whether Tiararose is innocent, he banishes her from the kingdom. But before her sentence can be carried out, a shocking figure appears. Aquasteed Marineforest, the prince of a powerful neighboring country, has been harboring feelings for Tiararose for quite some time, and announces his intention to marry her!

Adored by the prince of another kingdom, what awaits the villainess on her path to a happy ending?

Pretty standard "villainess" setup going on here. Very prince charming of them to come to support in a situation like that, but not convinced springing off an unexpected engagement proposal is really romantic. Hopefully his point of view is explained more in next episodes. On the other hand, the episode went by very fast so the show is doing something right.

I got pretty impatient while the MC was just waiting around for the axe to drop at the condemnation scene - she's more passive than I like my MCs - but the show succeeded in making me curious as to how the particulars would work out even though I knew the neighboring prince was going to intercede from the title.

It seems pretty clear to me that the "heroine" is also an outsider from the "real" world who knows the game. Her reaction to the Neighbor Prince's sudden intrusion made it clear that she was after him as well, and that she was pursuing a harem ending. The payoff or fun for me was watching her goals be frustrated. In that respect...and pretty much only in that respect...the anime reminds me of Trapped in a Dating Sim, an anime I enjoyed a lot more and whose season 2 is coming soon.

I'll check this out again, and if the anime is more about the MC thwarting the supposed heroine, I might keep tuning in. If it's more about the uber sweet Prince Charming romance with zero surprise or tension, I'll hit the eject button. Sunday is already too busy. I had so many new anime to check out and I still haven't watched Kana-Chan isn't Scary. I'm thinking of delaying Hell's Paradise a week and watching it on Saturdays because there's not that much there this season.

Ep 2: Are we sure our prince charming is a human and not a lizard being? Also, isn't he talking to her like to a child? Unless something new is revealed really soon, it looks like this will go for a fairytale romance played straight, with a big power differential to boot. Even though the heroine's status is clarified now, I wonder what role she will play later given how things are at the end of the ep. Special powers maybe?

I think I might be too old for this. I mean, their conversation during their date (and pretty much all of their interactions, for that matter) was so insipid and cloying I would've been looking to climb out the restroom window to escape if I had to sit through it irl, but I can see how maybe 11-13 year olds could swoon over it.

There was one moment though, when they held on a closeup of Waterboy's eyes where he looked a bit sinister, like he was thinking, "Ah, yesss, she's falling right into my evil trap, muahaha," and I wasn't sure if that was just bad artwork, or I was supposed to get that feeling. But if their conversations continue as they have, I might not last long enough to find out.

Yah, this is too heavy on the Prince Charming angle for me. The part I was interested in - the potential conflict with another isekai-er - doesn't look like it's going to be front and center.

Yeah, I think I'm done. The first half was a How I Met Your Mother recap from Seahorse's view (guess that sinister shot was just bad artwork), but when they whipped out the sweets for her to babble over I had to kick the playback up to 1.5x to get through it. It does look like Akari is stepping up now, but I might not have the fortitude to stick around to see what she does.

I thought I was done, but I gave the last episode a delayed shot because I got a couple days off because of weather, and now I'm well done Wink

That's not really worse than some of the names in a lot of Gundam, Mardock Scramble, or even Baccano! (Jacuzzi Splot). I'll take an Aquasteed over a Kyle any day. Very Happy

But, yeah the show does suck.

If you'd actually watched the second episode, you'd know that his private guard corps, "The Aquastud Marinaforce" is actually pretty cool....

And Gina, I did look at that list. It's like somebody took James Bond character names, dropped some acid, and then tried to rewrite them.

So it is confirmed my suspicion all along that Akari is another isaku. And judging by her personality my guess is she was a child when she died.

Now the new heroine we are about to deal with, is also a isaku?

Episode 12 (finale)

Cowards. They had a male fairy king, called Claire, and who presented femininely, and then they had him change into a masculine form (hair and clothes) as if it was some kind of disguise. He is a fairy, why couldn't he be a metaphorical queen, they get a free pass at being gender weird in fiction.

In general I think the show was too boring, more so than the other shojo romance anime I just said was. The most annoying aspect being that I would accuse the title pretty much being a lie that is trying to appeal to the fairly recent subgenre. Tiararose has no villainess attributes, and is instead sickeningly sweet, which feels like it defeats the purpose of having a villainess character.

I understand the genre is supposed to be living the fantasy of wrongly being made the bad guy, and then turning it around. But I think the real draw is about having some of the attitude that is usually only afforded to villain characters, and being able to be the heroine while doing so. But Tiararose has none of that, instead her showing manners only has a little bit of bite to it at the start, and outside of that her main character trait is that she is selfless and generally a bit insecure, which is so boring in a villainess show. Her special power is making sweets for crying out loud, and just makes friends with fairies, something that could probably have worked in a show that was up front with being sweet, but instead it pretends its about her really being a villain because how the character was in the original story.
