I was wondering, what with Gurren Lagann being a great show with such mainstream appeal, why isn't anyone trying to put it on television? I would have thought it would be a good candidate for adult swim or even toonami

If I remember correctly, in one of the latest articles about ADV titles they said they were discussing both Gurren Lagann and Sgt. Frog on television. But other than that, something like this will just be a rumor until ADV officially releases what they're doing with those titles.

the way things are going, we'll be lucky to even see the DVD before fall.
Adult Swim already has Code Geass, so i don't see it happening any time soon. Eureka Seven has made them cautious about mecha shows. there's also the whole falling out between ADV and Williams Street (Evangelion, Super Milk Chan)
i agree though, it would be nice if it somehow got syndication.

I would have thought that transformers might have primed US audiences for Mecha action, but perhaps we'll have to wait, maybe if Geass does well someone might take on Gurren Lagann, I could certainly see it airing before midnight

I think they should worry about getting on DVD first.

Gurren lagann shouldnt even air on american tv, with how american kids trying to imitate death note , I can picture the news headline, a 10 year old after watching Adult swin's Gurren Lagann ,a mecha robot show, believed he can pierce through the heaven and jump off a 10 foot building because the moto of the show is if you believe in yourself, you can do the impossible.

The press will probably be a bit more "descriptive" about the show for those who are unfamiliar with the mecha genre:
...Gurren Lagann, a Japanese cartoon similar to Transformers....

@headpower
Writing a name in a notebook is one thing jumping off a building is another entirely
I think that TTGL can and should appear on American TV

TTGL would be perfect for TV. I say for the Toonami crowd. Then again with certain scenes in the early episodes might be cut so AS is more suitable.
Anyway, how about those DVD's first guys?
