I actually think they went with that on purpose. It kind of fits with the whole weird vibe Katamari games bring out.
I do like the game play I have been seeing. Many ways to roll things. Hoping for some good challenging stuff to be made of it.

I've never seen Pegi 3. the title should be changed to something else cause "touch my Katamari" my mind goes thinking something else

Good god that looks tiring. I thought it would be similar to previous Katamari games, just push forward and back using two fingers. Who wants to have to constantly flick to keep in motion?
