A local anime distributor (Madman Entertainment) had polls on their forums recently, to choose which anime series to license in future. One of the polls included Hunter X Hunter, and they never dub/sub anime series themselves. Madman Entertainment have announced local anime licenses, a few weeks before their Region 1 releases were announced in the past too (Compare April 7th/21st News at http://web.pitas.com/tamarket/24_07_2003.html ). So I think Hunter X Hunter might be been licensed, but not announced yet.
Also I have read comments that the latest Hunter X Hunter OVA (Greed Island Final) seems to have toned down the violence more compared to manga. Maybe to make an English dub easier, since censorship is more strict if shown on TV ? Anyone heard anything about Hunter X Hunter been licensed recently ? |
