I've been reading manga mostly over anime for a while now, and I was just wondering how other people read their manga.

Most of the time I try to read it very very slowly even at action parts to get the whole feeling of the manga and every movement that the characters do. However, I find myself reading faster even very fast to get to know what the end of the chapter is about then I have to catch myself.

I was just wondering how you read your manga? Very slow? Like 5 minutes a page (I know it's unlikely but you get the point).

I read mine straight throw at a moderate pace. Glace at the art, read the text and continue.

Once I finish the book though, I would go back and analyze the art, pay greater attention to the detail, re-read some of the part, and find a deeper meaning to some of the situation. That's usually when I realized how cleaver some of the writing and art can be.

How do I read my manga? Well, first I open the book and when I finish reading a page, I begin on the next, sometimes this requires turning a page.

just kidding Smile I couldn't resist Smile

I try to read very slowly and absorb all the art and action, but sometimes I really want to see what's happening next and can't stop myself from reading quickly. If that happens, I usually go back and read it again.

Damn, ZahmiraV got there first.

Okay, I read through at normal pace, then the same day re-read it at a slower pace, often flipping back and forwards to examine bits i've missed or not been too sure of.

Just read them how you feel comfortable with Smile

I always read it slowly, analyzing the art and all that jazz.

I also read slowly because i don't want it to be over too soon. I can't really exlplain my philosophy too well in words. Ah well *sticks magnet to knife* WHOOOOOOA!

It pretty much depends for me, for instance if I'm reading something like Blame! or anything by Masamune Shirow, who's artwork is incredibly detailed, then I spend more time looking at the art. But if I'm reading something that's not necessarily worst but albeit simpler, then I spend less time per page and just scan the artwork.

But during exciting scenes I can't help myself and I cruise through the pages!

I read really slow. So slow that I often put in a bookmark. I like to finish it at once though. I have several manga to read this weekend^^. A Shonen Jump and vol. 2 of Rurouni Kenshin. I usually use it to prevent boredom.

I read manga veeery slowly, often in chunks because I don't usually finish one in a day. The more I like a series, the faster I finish a volume, which seems to be the opposite from most other people who like to savor their favorite manga. I love to read manga when I ride the train (because then I feel so Japanese! Anime catgrin ), but my ride is only 10 minutes, so that's part of the problem. I guess I read so slowly because I never have the time to immediately go back and reread the manga, so I want to asorb everything the first time. I do end up rereading/skimming manga when the latest volume of a series comes out, just to catch up with the story. I think I reread all five previous volumes when Planet Ladder 6 finally came out (there's a complicated backstory, y'know!)

Usually, I'll read things at a steady pace (slower, but not excrutiatingly such), on order to take in a fair amount of the artwork and appreciate the story. However, if I'm reading a manga that's very similar to its anime counterpart (Rurouni Kenshin, Naruto), I'll typically try to get past the parts I've seen as quickly as possible in order to get to the manga-exclusive material.

I was reading the first Trigun manga that came out for the first time, and I found myself reading the pages like one page every like 4 seconds lol I had to seriously stop myself so exciting.

I always read manga really fast, perhaps too fast^^;; I get so involved and excited with what's happening in the storyline that I sometimes am racing to turn the next page! I do stop occasionally to look at the art, if it's worth looking at..and I usually stop on full art pages. With clamp i like to pause a lot and look around because of all the flowers and random bits they throw in there!

I read it upside down while hanging from a tree.

With me, it depends. If it's my imported manga/my giant manga phonebooks that are in original Japanese, I just stare at every page, and try to take in as much as the story as possible. Then I go off to the internet and ask one of my friends who knows Japanese to tell me what happened that I wasn't able to see through the piccies. Twisted Evil *has very tolerent friends* Course, I look for fan translations of the manga first before I go off bugging my friends.

If it's English version manga, which I get every time I go out of town because I live in a small town, I usually read a volume on the way home, and hopefully after that I'll have other manga to read. I read it first, which is aparently rather fast because I'm told I'm a speed reader, and stop and pause at really stand out artwork and scenes, finish it, then go back again and study the detail in the art if the art was any good. Then I go off to my drawing pad and try to mimic... wait, that's not reading. Nevermind.

The other way I read manga is via scanlation on my computer. It's the best way to learn and try out unlicensed titles, though it is rather illegal Anime smallmouth + sweatdrop

Oh yeah, T.T And reading manga in your hands is soooo much better then staring at the computer screen. Remember kids, buy what you like! Support manga! Etc, etc.

I tend to read at an average speed so I don't miss anything.

I tend to read quickly, but spend a lot of time looking at the art. I'm a huge fan of line art, which is what most manga is. I also will go back and reread a section I really liked.

So I guss at a moderate pace. Not slow, not fast, like I read all-text books.
