because the convention's popularity is growing, and more and more people keep showing up. if they don't cap attendance, they might out size the convention center. so it's first come first serve!

Another reason for the cap limit is for safety, prevent worst overcrowding, staffing limitations, and to ensure that we don't get shutdown by the fire marshal due to having too many people in the building.

This number is larger than last year's attendance numbers, so there is room to grow. I have heard of some interesting tidbits about this year, but if I told you I would have to kill you

They should split it and start doing one north on the east coast and another farther south.

I think it's awesome -- finally some sanity in this area. It's better to have 22,000 fans enjoying themselves than 27,000 fans pissed off because of overcrowding and lines for everything. I believe NekoCon was the only other con to cap attendence so far, am I right?

(Also, caps can improve attendence, just like smaller stadiums do for sports teams. If you can't be assured of getting in, you're much more likely to buy a ticket in advance.)

I'm thinking they should pull a Kosaicon (and possibly Tekko) and have an event sandwiched between cons.

Who'da thought that something this good could come out of Penn State?
