It's already rated R, if going by MPAA standards. They probably have an extant time limit set on bare breasts allowed before something can no longer be PG-13, and it's likely very short. Yeah this is pedantic, but it really should say NC-17.

Not only did Monster Musume cross the R-rated threshold a long time ago, it consistently borders on NC-17 (the MPAA aren't fond of fetishism/sexual behavior the general public would find bizarre). I question on a regular basis how this series is sold without any shrinkwrap at bookstores.

afraid your wrong on that much. the NC-17 rating more or less goes to the manga versions of both ToLove Ru Darkness & Shinmai mao no Testamant. monster musume is definitely in the r rates threshold, but its not nearly risky as those two series to get the nc-17 rating.

Remember kids, anime is not recommended as a guide to Happy Family relationships. Koi Kaze has much to answer for.

what does that mean? cause to be frank, if by some chance that those two are actually siblings by chance, i dont think it will offend those that are into ecchi/harem fanservice. especially considering that the original harem classic tenchi muyo have the main in a harem with two of his aunts. besides i am pretty sure that the scene was more or less fanservice for fans that are into that since the whole stepsibling fanservice have been the norm lately.

hell, there haven't been any series, ecchi and/or non - ecchi that have any romances between blood related siblings since in the days when Koi Kaze , Cress: Celestial Legend & Angel Sanctuary were released and were popular and that was a really long time ago.(SAO: Fairy Dance Arc, Tokyo Ravens & Trinity Seven dont actually count since the main two of that storylines were cousins, not siblings.)

lmao Monster Musume is one of those stupid-barely-any-story-borderline-hentai titles i just hate to admit I love.

This, Prison school and an old (borderline?)hentai doujin called 'my balls' are some of the few titles I can honestly say I enjoy(Not like that!)... on the anonymity of the internet.

Umm.... Monster Musume is sold in shrinkwrap. If you are seeing it out of shrinkwrap, that is because a customer removed it to read it in the aisle.

Borderline porno or not I really enjoy this series-it's just got a certain air to it. Cool

@jr240483 As TheAncientOne said, you forgot Yosuga no Sora...

Visual novels on the other hand have no rarity of those. Just completed Hara Kano!!... (And patiently waiting for them to finish up that Yosuga no Sora fantranslation...)

Well then, someone at my Books-a-Million is really dedicated. Pulling the shrinkwrap off every single volume the day it comes out as well as every single reprint/copy the store gets in takes some real effort.

No but I wish shows like this would stop teasing me and get to the point.

I don't get the 16+ rating. While it gives more freedom to buyers, the material feels too strong to warrant it. I don't care since I'm not a consumer of this book and would rather discuss refining age ratings.

I read the first 3 volumes of Monster Musume, I found it pretty bland (although I am not the target audience for it).

It already has crossed that line when it started out as a porno web manga.
