The original is decent. However, the sequel is God-awful with a crummy art style, and turned Shogo into a douche and Yui into an ugly tomboy whose only purpose is to service him in a gruesome sex scene, which is like watching two gorillas mate. I guess they screwed it up so bad, AIC made the final one unrelated, although the second barely followed the original's story anyway. Frankly, I'd like to see the remake as more coherent and with closure, or an adaptation of the 2007 PS3 game, which was supposed to be the sequel.

I never managed to see the originals but that promo art looks pretty cool. I should probably try to track down the original and finally check it out.

MZ23 is a timeless classic to me especially the music and songs by Kumi Miyasato. Well but again i am a bit biased when it comes to 80s stuffs and Mikamoto's character design ( he did Eps 1 only though).
I hope that the new one will also bring the same combination that made the original unique and special. I wouldn't a sequel to the original as well as long as it is the same production team. |
