I’m betting on that announcement being made soon after the movie is released.

Or perhaps at the end of the movie would certainly fit with the hype around the show kinda best way to advertise to the fanbase.

I want to be excited about this, but I feel skeptical about it with Sony right now.

I love konosuba, but there's nothing about it that would make it a good game. I'm not saying it's not possible, but the IP will not bring anything to the game.

You're absolutely wrong. If the mechanics are faithful, the character quirks would make for a fantastic (and difficult) game that's mostly about shepherding and incredibly fragile BLM with a one-nuke using a party of characters that are all highly specialized to the point where they are only useful in a few, very specific contexts, and are more likely to hinder than help if commanded poorly.

Further the Eris reincarnation angle could be a great way to implement restarting battles.

With a solid dev team, KonoSuba could make a fantastic dungeon-crawling RPG. Especially if it were an SRPG.

Really, though, a lot of LN premises could make for solid games. Like a Shield Hero game where you cannot attack or heal directly; or a Slime game where you're incredibly weak but can assimilate the abilities/stats of anything you defeat; or a Slice and Wolf game where you actually have to pay attention to the in-game economy.
