I've begun to notice more and more that even with good light novel to anime adaptations there is always something lost in the process. I think this is down to the protagonist's inner thoughts mostly being absent in the adaptation. Those inner thoughts contribute a lot to the reader's understanding of the characters actions and intentions in the novel. In the anime the viewer often has to infer or deduce these things and there tends to be more ambiguity.
I first noticed this problem after watching Re:Zero season 1 - which I thought was fantastic - which prompted me to read the light novels. There was a lot of world-building lore left on the cutting room floor but in some ways Subaru copped it the worst. Many viewers thought Subaru was a complete moron and whilst even in the novels he wasn't the brightest bulb his actions and intentions were much more clearly thought out than was apparent in the anime. Some viewers wanted him to be more strategic and manipulate everything to his benefit but I came to appreciate his lack of guile meaning that there was always genuine emotion in his interactions with others rather than aloof manipulation. |

Yes you're right, it's a real pity but protagonist's monologue and inner thoughts tend to be cut during the transition LN to Anime. I read many LN among those who got animated ( this one include ) and regrettably, only a handful of them kept such subtil an yet neccesary scenes, thus it often leads to bland protagonist and incomprehension for anime viewers. |

Ironically the trope that threw me off the anime adaptation over the light novels was the bright primary colors of the character designs. In my mind I see them as much more realistic colors.

I'm going to disagree about it being regrettable. Anime shouldn't be reading inner monologues to the viewer. It should be showing you the story. If you want the full story, read the books. Anime made as if it were a book will just be a steaming pile of crap. |

Sounds like he is still a bit of a blank slate Kirito alike but its good that he is finally starting to reblossum the personality he had as mostly Rio again with the oncoming conflicts. Even if it means Rio is getting more pushed into the background for his isekai personality to take hold.
How does the summoned instead of reincarnated people compare to his super saijin levels of power? |

The heroes have divine weapons which are the pinneacle among all weapons, they also have unnatural strenght and magic, as of vol 17 the latest i've read there are still some who can beat most of them however their potential is second only to Rio/Aishia. ( far behind though ) |

The light novels make it very clear that there is much more going on in the background than meets the eye due to both the passage of time and interested parties obscuring things. Even power levels are subject to matters not yet discussed.

While the harem aspect strikes me as being ridiculous, I must give kudos to the author for including the internal monologues of so many different characters.
In that regard, it's really quite refreshing. |
