I REALLY enjoyed the anime. I think it was just setup for something bigger. I look forward to reading the LN.

No idea about the anime, but the premise sounds promising. I really liked what Mob Psycho 100 did with a similar idea, though it sounds like this is going in the opposite direction (EG "embrace the power" rather than, "power is irrelevant, focus on your character first.")
