Not gonna lie, this was honestly really cool, especially since it was Rudd's very first job as an actor. And has all sorts of little details, like the games on the UI are all from franchises that started on the SNES.
Also has to be mentioned that the voiceover for the original SNES commercial was provided by the late, great Tony Jay. That was a voice that would send chills down your spine

I liked this commercial. Paul Rudd poking fun at one of his first acting jobs. It looked like he was having a good time doing it. I kinda agree with AiddonValentine. Tony Jay had a great voice and one of those people you wish had lived a lot longer. He was a very good actor.

Did not know about Paul Rudd and Tony Jay's association with Nintendo until this moment.

Yeah, I saw this commercial even before ANN made an article on this. Also it's nice of Nintendo to upload the old 1991 SNES commercial featuring Paul in the best quality (other uploaded version on YT were very low quality, or blurry prior to Nintendo uploading the original commercial).

I liked the original commercial, but the new one feels like a missed opportunity in a sense - the original was very much a product of its time, but it's VERY very clear that Nintendo is trying to push the camera/social stuff for the Switch 2 with the newer one. At the end of the day, an ad is an ad, but I don't think the newer one is going to live on in YouTube replays the way the original circles on in when I'm going back through Nintendo nostalgia.

Yeah, they should've committed to the bit and done it basically 1-for-1 remake. But yeah, they really do seem to want to push the camera/social stuff (which makes sense as right now there's really only one Switch 2 exclusive at launch so they can't do a montage of game footage like the SNES commercial could).

Yeah, all they really accomplished by uploading both ads at once was make the NS2 ad look a lot less compelling by comparison. The 90s had has a ton of energy and is laser-focused on all the cool games you can play, by comparison the NS2 ad is focused on... just some guy, and the fact that you can talk to other players while you're gaming online, something that other platforms have been doing for... Christ, for more than two decades now, I think.
