Guess nobody's getting High School Kimengumi, then?
Maybe because it's a little bit too Japanese, kinda like Mr. Osomatsu? |

1) sorry Americans,.youn don't get special treatment, if we get "El Malo" , and the Germans get the spell " shoot! Shooter! The shooting'!", you get this. 2) talking about names reminds me of " siegbert" my favorite fantasy name.you start with all the coolness of sieg, then end with the lameness of bert.the combination in particular gives me whiplash, like a random redneck got isekaid or something. |

For a show like "You and I Are Polar Opposites" that hasn't officially premiered yet, did the reviewers use pre-release streams somewhere?

I'm actually surprised by this. The recent wave of remakes has been fun to watch and I didn't think we'd miss out on something for being "too Japanese" in 2025. After all, Hell Teacher Nube got subbed last year and you need at least a passing interest or knowledge in yokai to enjoy it. |

Yes, it's not uncommon for us to get screeners. |

Could I ask a favour? Would it be possible for ANN to identify which previews are based on screeners (or whatever)? I would find that very useful.

Can you elaborate? We have so many things to keep track of with a single preview guide page; adding yet another thing without an obvious benefit is kind of exhausting. If a show is up on the preview guide page that hasn't premiered yet on streaming, there are only two options: we got a screener with an early embargo (in this case, all three of these series were shown in limited theatrical runs by CR on December 15), or we royally screwed up. You'll know it was the latter because the staff is freaking out, and the show was taken down after launch.

Am I dreaming or did ANN in the past used to identify shows that were being advanced previewed? Of course, at one time it was kind of irrelevant because advance previews were pretty rare, but they are clearly becoming more prevalent. If ANN were to start identifying these advance situations, I would recommend putting that info in the second paragraph of the What is this? section. As an example:
You and I Are Polar Opposites is based on the manga series by Agasawa Tea. The anime series is streaming on Crunchyroll on Saturdays. The previews are based on an advance screener not available to the public. Or words to that effect. It's not the biggest deal in the world, but it would save posters from, say, going to Crunchyroll (as I did) and searching for Polar Opposites on the off chance it has been made available sooner than the ANN Encylopedia says (which has happened in the past). |

I second this. I was actually searching to see if it was an advanced screening, because I didn't find this episode out on any streaming channel. On the other hand, I believe that in the past you guys used to mention when it was the case. |

The only problem this gave me was the slight sadness that my anticipated Jigokuraku Season 2 isn't actually out for my viewing yet. Or, put differently: If it were stealth sponsorships, I'd get it, but immediately after seeing it's not available 10 days from now, there I go. It's a pretty available-or-not, simple situation IMO.
Plus I remembered there's the whole simulcasting page while I'm on the site anyway. It's no big. Last edited by InfiniteNothingness on Thu Jan 01, 2026 2:36 pm; edited 1 time in total |

I also looked for the show on Crunchyroll three times until reading the sentence 'streaming on Saturday' three times over and sadly slowly coming to terms that I cannot watch it yet
I'd rather see the preview guide once I can actually watch the show. Now rewatching some Frieren. |

Tamon's B-Side had a really fun first episode. It did an excellent job economically introducing us to Utage and Tamon while still giving everything room to breathe, where the shift in Utage's perspective on Gloomyhara from unnerving contradiction of her idealized oshi to someone she is developing a connection and attraction to alongside said oshi feels natural. And I hope further episodes can maintain the momentum, because this episode looked great (which I'm sure will only continue to make people mad about this "stealing budget" from OPM S3 or some such, not understanding whatsoever how anime productions are managed or how teams are formed). Chika Nagaoka's direction was nice and snappy, especially important to help the comedy land as well as it does, and with the framing of Utage's head exploding into a puff of smoke and hearts from 3 angles to her being shot through the heart by her oshi's song title I can feel a flair for exaggerated dramatics born from Nagaoka's years of work on Conan movies. The only sticking point was that CG did come across a bit jarring, but overall it flowed well enough and there are far worse examples of CG dissonance in recent memory that I don't see this negatively impacting the show all too much

Really? This is an unreasonable request? It would take two seconds to do and I suspect be appreciated by a lot of posters.

Are you not familiar with what the saying means?
It's just one more thing. One more thing to remember to do on top of the dozens of fiddly little tasks that make up putting out preview guide. One more little thing on top of editing, formatting, getting the copyright information, adding the images to the CMS, making sure all the HTML is working right... Just one more small thing. One more straw, surely the camel's back will hold up. |
