I don’t think I’ve seen a manga give up this blatantly in a while. Hope Fujimoto is doing well. It really feels like he burned out and decided to cut his losses, unless he’s got an unimaginable master plan of a final chapter.

Is it done done or are we going to get a Part 3? Neither would surprise me.

I hope once all the chapters are collected in manga form everyone will read them and finally start giving Fujimoto the credit he deserves. I am so tired of people calling him a bad artist or claming he was never good. They have no idea what Manga creators go through everyday.

The final page of today's chapter on the Viz reader changed from "Final chapter coming March 23rd" to the standard "To be Continued". Curious.

It pains me to think so when I adored the first part, but part 2 never once interested me up to the current latest chapter, and I sure can't see how it could change with the finale. One side of me wants a proper part 3, but a bigger part would rather see Fujimoto-sensei stick to one-shot to short series, formats where he shines.

Disappointing finish to a disappointing while. Denji should've stayed boxed longer to give Asa more solo screentime and Nayuta was terribly wasted.

I do not know why, as in Japanese (Jump Plus) and Manga Plus it says "final chapter".

It really felt like this second-to-last chapter could have been put anywhere in the story if he wanted to spoiler[in videogame terms is basically a glorified game over ending], so yeah, it feels like a "damn it all" to me. Anyway, I'm also of the opinion that better stick only to the first part, this one was mostly disappointing and made it hard for me to care about anything because aside of Denji and maybe Asa I didn't care about anybody and it felt like throwing things to a wall and see what sticks.

What now turned out to be the last 1/3 of the manga was an absolute chore and there is no way to reach any sort of ending with just one more chapter, especially after today´s out-of-nowhere purplemonkey dishwasher of a chapter. I am still glad it´s ending due to how checked out I am. How often can the same characters do the same things over and over again? Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Remind me of Fire Punch´s misbegotten second half, and it´s trainwreck of an ending. Just somewhat better put together. Ain´t no way that this will be the last word on this manga but Part 2 fundamentally doesn´t work and we need to move past it. Remind me of Highlander 3. A half-cooked remake of the first one that feels like DLC and ends in a way so similar to the original that you can delete it from your brain and lose nothing. Not that I know how CSM2 ends. Let´s hope it´s not another poor man´s Evangelion, which Fire Punch randomly drifts into towards the end. Congratulations Dennis?

Guess I'm going to have to be that guy who defends Part 2 of Chainsaw-Man Laughing

Well, who knows, there's still perhaps one more chapter that will sour me on it all. Razz

This ending would be VERY ballsy, assuming there is no Part 3. And it would be a VERY meta way to end it...

spoiler[A literal apocalypse is taking place in the story!

The WORST Devil has arrived - Pochita himself - ENDING THE WORLD OF CHAINSAW-MAN FOR THE READERS!]

I have long personally theorized that there will be a Part 3 because there are MANY unresolved threads from Part 1 - threads that Fujimoto even takes the time to bring up throughout Part 2 and introduced in Part 2
spoiler[- Finding the Blood Devil again
- Where is Reze amongst the other weapons?
- What happened within Public Safety?
- Where is Kishibe? Where is Kobeni?
- What exactly IS Pochita and the Chainsaw-Devil???]

So I figured that Part 2 would end on some kind of open-ending similar to Part 1. And that a Part 3 would pick this up with an entirely new Main Character, who I assumed would be...
spoiler[Reze as the MC, picking up after the events of Part 1.

I speculated that she'd be recruited by Kishibe for his new unit digging into conspiratorial big government and international things behind the scenes, and making Part 3 a more spy/espionage thriller. Kobeni is likely still reluctantly working for Kishibe because she has no choice.

Kishibe likely made a deal with Denji to bring him back on board once he finishes school and graduated - so Part 3 would be an adult Denji arc.

I speculated that while Asa would bring Denji growth, her involvement with Yoru would have ruined her life as people indentify her with the War Devil who destroyed America and killed and harmed a LOT of people, and that perhaps Denji would eat Yoru to save Asa, something Yoru would agree to, and this would erase these events from everyone's minds, but that includes Denji and Asa and their time getting closer together.

But as eating devils still leaves residual information and impacts on the world, Denji and Asa would have matured as characters, but their entire time together would be sacrificed, and this would be Denji making that BIG choice the Fire Devil foreshadowed.

This would open the door for Reze to waltz back into Denji's life, and considering the War Devil was eaten, this might also have an affect on the Weapons, so Reze's devil form and abilities might have also changed/become more limited.]

I am now REALLY intrigued to see what the final chapter will bring...

spoiler[
- Pochita eating himself would still be limited, as just as nuclear weapons could be reinvented, Denji himself might recreate the chainsaw, and become a chainsaw-man similar to the end of Part 1 against Makima.
- Denji's paradoxical happiness is essentially being someone who despite living a shitty life, was a personality geared to see or delude himself into seeing the silver lining of things.
-The pursuit of happiness was happier for Denji versus finding happiness, which could lead to losing that happiness, as Makima did to Denji in Part 1 by taking everything precious away from him. So, in a sense, Pochita is doing that to Denji once again, though it's likely Pochita's main motivation is to save the world from the apocalypse and this was the only way following their defeat.
- The story has really come around full circle in many ways, which includes the fact that both the insect and bat devil that Denji easily dispatches early on, are more powerful now with the fear of insects and wildlife growing with Death eliminated.
]

If this is really the final-final chapter of Chainsaw-Man coming up, then what occurs in there will make or break this story in terms of satisfaction value....

But I still suspect a Part 3 with a very different kind of direction is coming, spoiler[and I do suspect that Denji will recreate the Chainsaw. Also Part 1 hinted that there was a very different concept to the weapons that had been long since lost when Chainsaw-Man ate something, so perhaps that might return depending on what exactly happens after Pochita eats himself.

Frankly I'm expecting Denji is going to wake up in a very different, practically fantasy world that would exist without Pochita's meddling, where a very different kind of story could be told moving forward.]

Well Sopranos at least wrapped up all of the various character arcs and plot threads sufficiently enough before ending ambiguously.

That's not the case with Chainsaw-Man Part 2 which brought up a lot more questions and mysteries than it answered on top of Part 1 things being left unresolved.

This is why I suspect that Part 2 is basically 'The Empire Strikes Back', and Part 3 will be 'The Return of the Denji.'
