I tried it, and to take a page from Mel Brooks, its title might as well be Star Fox 64: The New One.
It's just like the old one, but it's newer. |

The tutorial mission ends with several hundred enemies spawning and swarming your squadron all at once. You get to fly around shooting at them for about thirty seconds before the game forces you out. Those thirty seconds are among the most fun I’ve ever had in a Starfox game… but it sounds like the only new content is that tutorial mission? So everything else is just the N64 missions with only a few very minor changes?
Also disappointed that there won’t be any motion controls. Can’t really blame anyone else for failing to take advantage of the Joycons motion controls for even basic stuff like gyro-assisted aim when even Nintendo can’t be bothered. At least it’s funny that two of Nintendo’s biggest NS2 games are both remakes of N64 games… that are already playable on the Switch 2 via NSO. How many people, do ya’ think, will just launch the OG versions of Starfox or Ocarina and then simply decide they’re either uninterested in the remake, or perfectly satisfied playing originals instead? Fingers crossed it won’t be too big of a number, ‘cause I’m still pining for a Wind Waker HD port — though whatever number it is, it’ll definitely be more than zero. |

I had previously commented that the new Star Fox game is another Nintendo game that received an official Latin American Spanish dub and the cast is actually has some interesting people working on it:
- Fox McCloud = José Antonio Toledano (Finn in Adventure Time, Akaza in Demon Slayer, Ekko in League of Legends, kid Piccolo in Dragon Ball Daima); - Falco = Luis Fernando Orozco (Toshiro Hitsugaya in Bleach, Josuke Higashikata in Jojo's, Lpuis in Beastars); - Peppy and General Pepper = Óscar Flores (Ryusui in Dr. Stone, Numbuh 1 in Kids Next Door, Brook in One Piece, Wario in some WarioWare games, Allen Schezar in Escaflowne); - Slippy = Bradon Montor (Gladion in Pokémon, Zanka in Gachiakuta, Bond in Spy × Family). IHaving seen and heard some clips, it's a huge improvement over the infamous Star Fox 64 3D Latin American Spanish dub, though that one was made in Los Ángeles, this new game is beng dubbed in Mexico. I'd say that ever since the release of Breath of the Wild Nintendo has been producing some great LatAm Spanish dubs. |

To be honest, given the rise of Gen Z retro gamers community (2nd source here, and yes they're real and they exist), I think it's going to be hard to convince that community to try to buy the 2 remakes, but then again there are Gen Z retro gamers that are open-minded and are willing to have the remake version for convenience. But yeah, it's going to be hard to tell if the Star Fox 64 and Zelda; Ocarina of Time Switch 2 remakes are going to sell well or not meet expectations because the gaming audience expectation may not be impressive to those that grew up playing the N64 classics counterpart. Well that, and the N64 classics are already available and accessible. |

I would presume a very small amount of people. The orignal games are there for people who played the orignal games back in the day whereas the remakes are there for both newer audiences and the old crowd who want these games with newer visuals and less cumbersome controls/mechanics. |

Don't underestimate the retro gaming communities, that communities has been getting younger demographics meaning you'll have Gen Z and Gen Alpha folks playing these original N64 classics. It's strongly possible that there maybe more younger gamers playing these older games for good reasons. I'm sure there are people that will buy the remakes, but most of the younger gamers that played and compared between old and new version, they do (well it depends on the titles) lean toward the older version. |

Don't forget though that retro gaming communities are a niche, not the mainstream. It's good that they're getting fresh blood, but that shouldn't be taken as indicative of a widespread movement. |

I wouldn't called it niche, I've been monitoring the gaming world and I won't say that it's niche, and retro gaming popularity in the last few years has exploded, so it could be or close to mainstream. If it's not, then how the heck do we have several high-profile release of retro gaming even lesser well-known one like for example, Quake 1 and 2. I mean it's not a coincidence you got Gen Z saving malls, and reviving older tech which does including crossing over to retro video game and also older anime titles. |
