The fade of religion in favor of commercialized "idolatry" idea sounds like it could be pretty clever, but this sounds kind of limp as whole.

In its first half Kannagi seems intent on treading a difficult path: that of attempting to appeal to broader audiences while still pandering to the hard-core otaku who are its target audience.

Well, I mean, at least it's trying, right?

Jeez, otaku are a curse.

No, fire help technological evolution. Help man. Fire good. Fire vital to man.

Anyway, I guess Bandai is either hurting too much or also realized that sub-only might be cost-effective these days, to make this and the Lucky Star OVA sub only. The OVA seems really odd, especially when put into perspective that World Destruction, Dragonaut, and tons of other worse shows will be receiving a dub.

Dubs suck, stop being lazy and watch subtitled anime.
Does this have 7 Episodes on a 1, or 2 Disc set?

Preferring a dub does not mean someone's lazy. Sometimes people just prefer to be able to watch the animation in an anime without having to catch the bottom edge of the screen every time someone says anything, and sometimes people are physically incapable of watching subs due to less-than-stellar vision. Then there are some of us who just like to multi-task and be able to work on other things while watching TV, which is a lot easier to do when you can listen to the dialogue instead of having to read it line-by-line.

Personally, I prefer subs, but there's no reason to bag on people who don't. They may, and often do, have perfectly valid reasons to hold the opinion they do.

Absolutely this. I also prefer the Japanese language in most shows, but people who attack dubs for no reason almost make me ashamed to admit it.

Really wish single DVD sets would go away. A box set of 12 or 13 episodes is encouraged. Wish Bandai was reading this. Being a fan that has seen more subs than dubs (mostly fansubs), I concur that this series should have a dub (Even if it takes a year, I can wait). Agreed, don't bag on people who enjoy dubs. What I bag on are dub haters. I admit even if the script is faithful to the original, the performance will be, not necessarily "suck", but not as good as the Japanese. There are exceptions. Kanon 2006 I find is better dubbed than subbed.

Yes, let's keep the "dubs suck" crap out of this. This thread is NOT about the merits of dub vs. sub, but about the series (and review of it) in question.

too bad this can only be ordered from a few (two?) shops, both of which I cannot use.

Did they somehow convey Nagi's dated way of talking in english? Would be too bad if they didn't, it's part of her character after all. And also a joke when she switches to modern, polite way while in school

Yes, but World Destruction and Dragonaut are licensed by Funimation, not Bandai. Different companies, different strategies, unfair comparison.

There isn't a dub.

I think I'm going to pass this one up though. It kind of sounds like Kujibiki Unbalanced only... Not being ironic.
