Square Enix to Announce Final Fantasy XV Release Date in March

posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

During a livestreamed Active Time Report panel at PAX Prime on Saturday, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata confirmed that Square Enix will release Final Fantasy XV in 2016. He added that Square Enix will host a special event in March 2016 where the company will announce the release date of the game. Final Fantasy XV will launch simultaneously worldwide.

The panel also revealed more concept art, as well as more information about the car mechanics in the game, which Tabata showed using in-game footage.

Square Enix originally announced Final Fantasy XV as Final Fantasy Versus XIII in 2006, until Square Enix changed its name in 2013. Tetsuya Nomura originally helmed the project, until Hajime Tabata (Final Fantasy Type-0) replaced him last September. Square Enix released a playable demo of the game titled Final Fantasy XV -Episode Duscae- bundled with the collector's edition of Square Enix's Final Fantasy Type-0 HD PS4/Xbox One game in March. The company updated the demo in June.
