The Thai GL Cranium Comic Adaptation to Be Available in an Early Release on Renta: Crowdfunding Also Begins on March 26

Tokyo, Japan, March 26, 2026 - Frontier Works Inc. (Headquarters: Itabashi-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Masahide Tsuji; hereinafter “Frontier Works”) and DREAM EXPRESS [DEX] CO., LTD. (hereinafter “DEX”) have decided to launch the comic adaptation of the Thai original GL novel Cranium on the e-book service “Renta!” (PAPYLESS CO., LTD.). Both the Japanese and Thai versions will be released on Friday, May 1, 2026.

This work is one of the most popular titles representing “Thai GL” (a genre depicting romantic relationships between women), which has been drawing growing attention in recent years, particularly across Asia. The comic adaptation is illustrated by Ruri Hazuki, a GL creator who has gained support in both Thailand and Japan. When the project was announced, it also received a major response from overseas fans, attracting attention across borders.

In addition, to commemorate this comic adaptation, a crowdfunding campaign begins on “Soreosu” from 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026 (JST).

The project aims to bring the appeal of “Thai GL,” which has been attracting attention in Thailand, to Japanese readers while also promoting Cranium more widely. In addition to the printed edition (exclusive to this crowdfunding campaign), this campaign will offer return rewards such as supporter-exclusive merchandise and credit listings of supporters' names.

Furthermore, Cranium will be promoted at the Bangkok International Book Fair, held in Bangkok, Thailand, from Thursday, March 26, 2026, to Sunday, April 5, 2026. In addition to a special booth and stage appearances at the venue, free giveaway items for visitors will also be available.

Cranium Synopsis

A violent plane crash throws Phinya and Busaya—former PhD classmates turned fierce rivals—into a tense reunion on the remote forensic field. Tasked with identifying the deceased, they find themselves tangled in the secrets of a mysterious skull, discovered far from where it belongs. Amidst the perilous circumstances and the haunting duty they share, something shifts in their unyielding gazes. What was once resentment slowly stirs into a tender, unspoken connection, as if fate itself has set the stage for their reluctant bond to ignite against all odds.
