Minawa is a cyborg girl (half human, half machine) instead of an android (robot with human appearance, like Mahoro) in manga.
About 5 minutes 11 seconds into episode 1, when Miss Shikijo notices Ryuga looking at a porn magazine he confiscated from Suguru earlier in the episode, look out for a book labeled "Production I.G". Production I.G is an animation studio that helped GAINAX, one of the animation companies for Mahoromatic, with the animes Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death and Rebirth; The End of Evangelion, and FLCL.
You have to love the "Rocky" reference in Episode 7 (at the end of the Dark Martial Arts Festival).
The Dark Martial Arts Festival in episode 7 also saw the trio of store owners in an unsuccessfully attempt to use a "Jet Stream Attack" on Mahoro - a clear reference to one of the well-known signature attack maneuvers in the Gundam universe.
