Trivia:

After Marvel's original attempts at translating the US Spider-Man comics met with disaster, Marvel Comics approached local artists to do a Japanese version of Spider-Man, believing that only by introducing the character through a Japanese perspective could he become popular.

Aside from this manga, a live-action Spider-Man series was also produced in Japan for the Japanese audience. This series was released in 1977 - around the same time CBS aired a different live-action series in the U.S. Unlike the Spidey we know who obtained his powers from a radioactive spider, this one used an alien-made bracelet that injected an enhancing serum in him, stored his Spider-suit, and shot webs. He even had a giant robot to boot!

Ironically enough, Marvel US's translations of the Spider-Man manga were stopped at the same time the company introduced the "Marvel Mangaverse" version of Spider-Man, made entirely by American artists and writers.
