Otakon Launches Satoshi Kon Farewell Project

posted on by Gia Manry
Convention encourages fans to send letters, donate to charities

Baltimore-based anime convention Otakon has announced that it is partnering with anime Studio Madhouse to give fans of the late anime director Satoshi Kon an outlet to express their appreciation for his works. The convention is encouraging fans to send letters to Kon's family by way of a temporary address provided by Otakon. Other recommended ways of participating include donating to cancer-fighting charities, buying Kon's works, and spreading the word about his films to friends.

The address to mail cards and letters is:

Satoshi Kon Project, Otakorp, Inc.
402 King Farm Blvd, #125-113
Rockville, MD 20850

Otakon has also provided an e-mail address for fans wishing to send their words electronically: studio.kon.satoshi (at gmail.com).

Satoshi Kon passed away on August 24 of pancreatic cancer. At the time, work on his fifth feature film, Yume-Miru Kikai, had yet to be completed; in his final blog message, Kon said that Madhouse co-founder Masao Maruyama had promised that the film would be finished.

Update: Yume-Miru Kikai's numbering corrected. Thanks, Rolando_jose.
