Film adaptation of live-action television series slated for summer 2012

The Japanese voice actress Aya Hirano (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Fairy Tail, Lucky Star) will star alongside AKB48 pop group member Rino Sashihara in a film adaptation of the live-action television series Muse no Kagami (Muse's Mirror). Other than movie documentaries on AKB48, this will mark Sashihara's film debut. The 24-episode late-night drama premiered in mid-January, and featured a theme song by Sashihara. Hirano stated on her Twitter account that she received a large bruise on her knee during filming on the 11th.

The TV series is centered on the personal growth of a girl named Maki (Sashihara). After a major production company shuts her out of the world of show business, a self-confident former star (Hirano) sees talent in Maki and coaches her to become the next big actress. Maki's rise as an actress gets complicated when the production company sends a young man to undermine her efforts, but he starts to fall for the developing star.
