'Music rhythm action' game for Nintendo 3DS slated for July 3 in N. America

An E3 event trailer for Square Enix's Theatrhythm Final Fantasy game began streaming on Monday. The four-minute gameplay video reveals that the game will ship in North America on July 3.

Square Enix announced in March that Theatrhythm Final Fantasy will be released for the Nintendo 3DS in North America, Europe, and other PAL territories this summer. The "music rhythm action" game lets players "perform" well-known musical tracks from the Final Fantasy franchise. Players use the touch stylus as they travel through towns and dungeons and battle creatures. The game features more than 70 tracks from the Final Fantasy series and commemorates the franchise's 25th anniversary.

Square Enix released the game in Japan on February 16.
