The Japanese technopop trio Perfume announced at their final "WORLD TOUR 1st" performance in Singapore that the group will perform the theme song "Mirai no Museum" (Museum of the Future) for next year's Doraemon film, Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Himitsu Dōgu Museum (Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Secret Gadget Museum). The song will be sold as the group's first single of 2013 next spring.

In the film, a mysterious entity steals the bell that Doraemon, the robot cat from the future, wears around his neck. Doraemon, his hapless owner Nobita, and their friends track down the thief and arrive at a magnificent secret gadget museum.

In a separate development, FuRyu will release a Nintendo 3DS version of the film on March 7, 2013 — two days before the film itself opens on March 9. In this detective action game, players uncover hints to discover the many secret gadgets hidden in the museum. Doraemon's existing gadgets from his famously handy four-dimensional pocket will appear in the game, and the title also has five different mini-games

The female pop group's "Polyrhythm" song was featured in the worldwide release of Disney and Pixar's American animated film Cars 2, which premiered last summer. Perfume made their onscreen film debut in the live-action film adaptation of Mitsurou Kubo's romantic comedy manga Moteki, which opened in Japan on September 23. They also performed the theme for Sengyōshufu Tentei~ Watashi wa Shadow (Housewife Detective~ I am a Shadow) television drama and contributed to the Kyō, Koi o Hajimemasu live-action film's soundtrack. Kyō, Koi o Hajimemasu will open on December 8.
