Saint Young Men's Jesus & Buddha Pose in Fashion Magazine
posted on by Sarah Nelkin
The website for the anime film of Hikaru Nakamura's Saint Young Men manga revealed that the film's Buddha and Jesus characters will “descend” onto the cover of the men's fashion magazine smart. The divine beings will appear inside the magazine's June issue wearing the newest t-shirt from the Beams T line on Wednesday.
The film and the original manga imagine if the Enlightened One Buddha (voiced by actor Gen Hoshino) and the Son of God Jesus (SAKEROCK band leader Mirai Moriyama) shared a low-rent apartment in Tokyo's Tachikawa area. The two holy beings have landed on Earth and now experience the mortal life in Japan. In one of the preview's segments, an old man asks if Buddha and Jesus would like to come in the bath house because it will “revive” them, to which Jesus replies that he already has experience with being revived.
Noriko Takao (episode director on Clannad, K-ON!, Lucky Star) is directing at A-1 Pictures off a screenplay by Rika Nezu (live-action Kimi ni Todoke, live-action Absolute Boyfriend). The Saint Young Men movie will open in Japan on May 10, 2013. There are also two original anime DVDs that are being bundled with the eighth manga volume (which was shipped in December) and the ninth volume (to be shipped in July). The original manga has sold over 9.5 million copies.
The movie will open in Japanese theaters on May 10.
