Sailor Moon Marks 25th Anniversary With Monster Hunter, Sanrio, More Crossovers

The official Sailor Moon website announced 14 parts of a project on Wednesday to celebrate the franchise's 25th anniversary.
The Monster Hunter XX (pronounced as "Double Cross") hunting action game for the Nintendo 3DS is collaborating with the anniversary project. Airou will be able to transform into Luna in the game and use the C Moon Neko Rod weapon. A special Sailor Moon Guild Card background will also be available for download. Capcom Channel began streaming an introduction video for the collaboration on Wednesday.
The Sanrio character My Melody will have a crossover project with Sailor Moon.
The 25th anniversary project's merchandise includes the Stick&Rod ~Moon Prism Edition~ series, which went on sale on Wednesday. Other items include Creer Beaute Maquillage cosmetics and Q-pot. "Hoshizora no Strawberry Macaron" (Starry Sky Strawberry Macaron) accessories, which became available for pre-order on Thursday.
Comic actor Naomi Watanabe's Punyus brand, department store Isetan, casual wear retailer GU, and baseball team Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles are also collaborating.
As part of the 25th anniversary project, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal anime is getting a sequel. The original 1990s Sailor Moon television anime will receive its first Blu-ray Disc release in Japan. A new Sailor Moon musical will run in Japan this fall, and the current stage musical will hold a special performance at the Anime Matsuri convention in Houston in April.
