With spring underway, the Pokémon franchise decided to offer a fresh take on the season with new "Saiko Soda" merchandise. The line is named after the game series' HP-restoring item of the same name, which is known as "Soda Pop" in English.
The merchandise includes a tin pencil case, mascots, a day bag, a hand towel, T-shirts, crew socks, plastic tumblers, a folding mirror, a masking tape set, a ringed memo pad, stickers, earrings, key holders, and smartphone cases. Children of the 80s and 90s in particular can appreciate the merchandise's retro designs with Pikachu and Eevee by illustrator F*Kaori. The bag is a collaboration with American bag brand MEI.
Prices range from 300 yen (about US$3) for the stickers to 8,000 yen (about US$73) for the MEI bag. The items will debut at Pokémon Center shops throughout Japan and on the stores' official website on May 19. All of the merchandise, except for the pencil case and larger stickers, will also be available through Amazon's Pokémon Store later in May.
