Hindi dub voice actor Rajesh Shukla joined Taito Ban on stage as both read Jinwoo Sung's lines at Crunchyroll's Mumbai Comic Con panel


The Hindi voice of Jinwoo Sung, Rajesh Shukla, surprised fans by joining Taito Ban on stage at the Mumbai Comic Con event on May 9.

As the voice actors spoke of all the ways they relate to and aspire to Jinwoo Sung's character, Shukla shared an inspirational story with fans about how he overcame a major injury and came back to act at the studio.

As they spoke more about their character, the interviewer asked both the actors and producer Atsushi Kaneko which ability of Jinwoo's they would want most. Kaneko simply stated he wants his physique, while Ban joked he would like the ability to not be late to places. Shukla was asked to answer in the context of his life in Mumbai and he said "Whenever someone pushes me on the street, I would like to summon the Shadow Army."

When asked about some of the hardest scenes to voice for Jinwoo, Taito Ban made some insightful revelations about the realities of of being a voice actor. He stated that some of his most difficult scenes were the ones where the character was speaking alone. Aside from that, voicing scenes with a lot of battles is also quite a challenge according to the artist.

The three guests concluded their Q&A with a statement from Atsushi Kaneko about the future of Solo Leveling. While fans were hoping for a more substantial announcement, all he said was that he is still working very hard on the series and hopes that he can meet everyone's expectations.

A live dubbing session then followed where both Ban and Shukla read lines for cheering fans.

Crunchyroll went all out that this year's Mumbai Comic Con by not only putting up its biggest booth ever, but also by hosting a performance by Hiroshi Kitadani. Crunchyroll's booth featured a dubbing booth where fans could make a recording of themselves dubbing lines from some of their favorite anime titles in English, Hindi, Tamil, or Telugu.

Mumbai Comic Con is taking place from May 9 through May 10 at Jio World Convention Center.

The anime of writer Chugong and the late artist DUBU's (REDICE Studio) Solo Leveling manhwa debuted in Japan in January 2024. Crunchyroll hosted a premiere screening for the first two episodes of Solo Leveling at PVR Maison, Mumbai in December 2023. The screening was followed by Anupama Chopra and Suchin Mehrotra's interview with Ali Fazal as well as an audience Q&A session. The company added the Hindi dub of the anime on its debut date in January 6, 2024. Crunchyroll added the English dub of the anime on January 20, 2024. It added the Tamil and Telugu dubs for the anime on January 22, 2024.

Solo Leveling -ReAwakening-, a compilation film for the anime, opened in Indian theaters in December 2024 alongside its U.S. and Canada release.

Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow-, the second season of the Solo Leveling anime, debuted in January 2025.
