AnimeWorks reveals Rayearth plans

posted on

AnimeWorks' most anticipated release of '99, Magic Knights Rayearth, has been met with many questions from the fan community, and so the company attempted to answer the most asked questions this week with a posting on its web site, revealing many of their plans.

The first two volumes will be made available either in September of November of 1999, with additional volumes to be released every other month thereafter. The first season, which will be made available on five tapes of four episodes, will be released in subtitled and dubbed formats simultaniously for the price of $24.95 each. Each release will have two volumes for sale either seperately or bundled together for a reduced price, resulting in the entire first season being available in only six months. A boxed set will be made available for $99.95.

Plans for the second season and DVD releases have not been finalized, but it is assumed that they will do both in the future (although DVD will be a challenge, since all editing is done in-house at a quality level suited only to VHS). The dub previously produced for the pilot episode that was being offered to various television syndicates will not be used, as AnimeWorks has decided to use either Costal Recording (You're Under Arrest, Shinesman), Taj Productions (Slayers, Pokémon, Utena), or Bang Zoom Productions (Ninja Cadets, Zero Woman).

AnimeWorks plans to update the FAQ on a weekly basis, so stay tuned to ANN for further developments!
