6 New Teletoon Channels

Nelvana announced that it will be creating 6 new Cartoon Channels for the Canadian digital cable TV market. The channels will be spin offs of Teletoon, the Canadian equivalent of Cartoon Network in which Nelvana holds a 20% share. The new channels are TELETOON Action, TELETOON Adult/Adulte, TELETOON Art, TELETOON Pop, Teletoon Retro/Rétro and the multilingual service, TELETOON Multi. All of these will me bilingual French/English.
In April Nelvana also filed for permission with the CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, Canadian equivalent the FCC) to create the Nelvana Channel, an “entertainment service” broadcast into multiple on screen windows, similar to a computer screen. The windows would broadcast Nelvana animations, and information related to the animation at the same time. The Nelvana Channel would also have a companion website, www.nelvanachannel.com (the website is not yet active).
While this information is not directly related to the Anime industry, you can be pretty sure that Anime will be shown on some of the Teletoon channels, and with Nelvana's entry into the Anime industry with Card Captors my guess is that Anime will make it's appearance on the Nelvana channel as well.
