SakuraCon Announces guests

posted on
Kei from Dirty Pair, Kabuki Closing Ceremonies..

Excerpted from an e-mail by Dawn Minges:

Sakura Con is pleased to announce the return of Pam
Lauer, the infamous Kei from the Original Dirty Pair
to our guest line-up.

Pam once had ambitions of stardom in the radio
industry, but after auditioning at ADV in Houston, TX
that dream was forgotten. Pam is known as "Kei" from
the Original Dirty Pair. Pam has also had minor roles
in shows including New Kimagure Orange Road, Those Who
Hunt Elves as well as a meatier role in Dragon Knight.
Pam currently lives in the Seattle area, and if
you're lucky you might even pass her while walking the
streets of Downtown Seattle.

Sakura Con is also proud to welcome Mary Ohno and the
Kabuki Academy Performance Troupe, who will perform in
our Closing Ceremonies on Sunday April 29, 2001.

Mary Ohno, a "Goodwill Ambassador" from Tokyo, Japan.
Ms. Ohno has been studying classical Japanese dancing
for over 40 years and Naga-uta Shamisen music for
over 30 years. Ms. Ohno was born and raised in Japan,
and is fluent in both Japanese and English. As an
accomplished performer, she has given numerous
recitals and concerts in those Japanese arts
("Hanayagi Fumiryu" and "Naga-uta Shamisen") at
several large theatres such as Mitsukoshi Hall,
Asakusa City Hall, The National Theatre, and Meiji-za
Theatre in Tokyo, Japan as well as across the United

Ms. Ohno has been visiting the United States from
Japan and stays in Tacoma, Washington for the purpose
of introducing Traditional Japanese Arts. Her
Japanese dancing in beautifully authentic kimonos is
preceded by her English explanation of the number she
is about to play so that the audience understands her
every move. Besides conducting her classes on
Classical Japanese Dance, Ms. Ohno is also the founder
and Artistic Director of the Kabuki Academy
Performance Troupe as well as the artist who
originated the concept of the illustrated dance which
she enjoys teaching as well as performing.
