Influential Manga Artist Dies

According to a post on rec.arts.anime.misc reports Ryūichi Yokoyama, a signifigant early manga aritst died November 8th at the age of 92. As the first mangaka to be recognized by the Japanese government as a serious artist, Yokoyama-sensei was best known for his 4-panel wartime manga "Fuku-chan" (1938-1971) which span over 5534 editions in the Mainichi Shinbun (AFAIK Japan´s longest newspaper comic strip) and had inspiredmany other manga-ka inclusive Osamu Tezuka himself.
