Viz and ShoPro USA have reason to celebrate, Hamtaro brings in highest ratings in category
According to ICv2, Hamtaro has scored a ratings success. In its 7am timeslot the show, which debuted on Cartoon Network on June 3rd, pulled in more children in the 9-14 age group than any other show on any other network (cable or broadcast), period.
The surprise is the demographic that Hamtaro has been appealing to; it is most popular with Boys 9-14. According to Viz they saw similar results at their Anime Expo booth, with an older, more male crowd showing interest in the title.
This demographic means that the Hamtaro merchandising potential is higher than the shows content would have suggested.
