The California Park and Recreation Society, a professional organization of employees of public parks throughout California, has cited the 2006 Manga Art and Graphic Novel Expo and Anime Faire for Teens, which was held in the city of Fremont in April of that year, with an Award of Excellence for innovative recreational programming. The event, which was sponsored by the city's parks department, gave attendees an opportunity to participate in manga drawing workshops and meet with several comics and OEL manga artists. The Faire was sponsored by several leading manga companies, including Tokyopop, Viz, and Broccoli. Source: Fremont Bulletin
