Displays host CoroCoro mag's 30th anniversary, Toward the Terra creator

The Kyoto International Manga Museum in Japan is hosting staggered exhibitions on Studio 4°C's Genius Party anthology, the CoroCoro Comic children's manga magazine, and the To Terra science-fiction manga-turned-anime this summer. Each exhibition has no special charge, except for the museum's own entrance fee which range from 100 yen (about 80 US cents) for elementary schoolchildren to 500 yen (US$4).

The July 13–24 exhibition for the Genius Party anthology film includes artwork, storyboards, scripts, and a video preview of the feature, as well as displays of the directors' previous works. The July 7 film brings together animated shorts by Robot Carnival's Atsuko Fukushima, Don Giovanni manga's Yoji Fukuyama, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure's Hideki Futamura, Macross co-creator Shōji Kawamori, Tekkonkinkreet art director Shinji Kimura, Cowboy Bebop's Shinichiro Watanabe, and Mind Game's Masaaki Yuasa.

Shogakukan's CoroCoro Comic magazine, the home of Doraemon, Pokémon, and dozens of other children's manga favorites, celebrates its 30th anniversary with a July 20–August 27 exhibition. The centerpiece is an artpiece created by combining 30 years of CoroCoro magazine covers. The exhibition also includes a collection of artwork, broken down by decade, as well as games, crafts, stamp booths, and a photo corner.

The Toward the Terra exhibition marks the television series adaptation of the science fiction manga classic, which also celebrates its 30th anniversary. The July 27-September 2 display includes artwork from the original manga and production designs from the anime series, which happens to end in September. The manga creator Keiko Takemiya herself will appear at the museum at a special discussion on July 28.
