Canadian Violinist's Album Has Princess Mononoke Theme

Angele Dubeau performed Joe Hisaishi's pieces on 2004 Japanese tour

Three of the tracks on Fairy Tale, the latest CD album by Canadian musician Angele Dubeau and her all-woman ensemble La Pieta, are written by longtime Studio Ghibli composer Joe Hisaishi. Dubeau opens the album with "Summer," the piece Hisaishi wrote to be the main theme of Takeshi Kitano's 1999 live-action film Kikujiro no Natsu. The main theme to Hayao Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke is track number four on the album, and an arrangement of his "Fragile Dream" is also included. The Japanese composer is a personal fan of Dubeau. In 2004, he invited her to travel to Japan for a fourteen-city tour during which Pieta performed a number of his compositions.
