Fafner Voice Actresses to Reprise Roles in Stage Play

The theatrical troupe Africa-za has announced that it will hold Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor ~ Fact and Recollection~, a stage play adaptation of Xebec's 2004 television anime Fafner, from December 16 to 21 at Tokyo's Theater Green. The play will focus on the Fafner pilots Shouko Hazama and Kanon Memphis, as well as Shouko's adoptive mother Youko Hazama. Voice actresses Miyu Matsuki (Shouko) and Nanaho Katsuragi (Youko) will reprise their respective roles in the play. Africa-za's Hiroshi Nakayama is co-writing and directing this adaptation of Xebec and Tow Ubukata's story.
Not coincidentally, a new film called Soukyuu no Fafner: Dead Aggressor: Heaven and Earth will open in Japan on December 25. Hisashi Hirai, the character designer of the original Fafner television series, is returning to work on the new anime along with the animators at Xebec. Ubukata is credited with the scriptwriting, and the Starchild musical group Angela will perform the theme song.
Geneon released the original Fafner anime series in North America in 2005. Digital Manga Publishing released the novel version of Fafner in 2008.
