'Anime Geek' Character to Appear on U.S. Network TV

The Whole Truth episode to feature anime fan accused of murdering parents

The online magazine California Chronicle reports that an upcoming episode of the new American legal drama titled The Whole Truth will feature an anime geek character played by Jake Thomas. Thomas, himself an anime fan and blogger for the website Japanator, confirmed his appearance in the episode with ANN, but corrected the magazine's report; he will not play the anime fan character, but rather that character's brother.

The conceit of The Whole Truth is to show the viewer both sides of a criminal case, the prosecutor's and the defendant's, followed by the jury reaching a verdict. After the verdict is issued, however, a scene showing "the whole truth" of the crime is shown, which may or may not be in line with the jury's verdict.

According to Thomas, the episode is set to air on ABC on October 13 and features "an awkward and depressed" teenager, obsessed with anime and comics, who is accused of shooting his own parents in cold blood. His mentally unstable brother, played by Thomas, hires "one of the best attorneys in town" to clear his brother.
