My Name is Noda Manga Gets More Live-Action TV Shorts
posted on by Egan Loo
The Japanese publisher Kodansha and the public broadcaster NHK announced on Wednesday that a regular live-action television series has been green-lit for Aya Tsuge's My Name is Noda. (Noda to Mōshimasu.) manga. The story follows the life of a plain woman named Noda (Noriko Eguchi) with eyeglasses and braided hair. Noda goes through most days with jeans and sweatshirts and with no makeup as a freshman studying Russian literature in the fictional Tokyo Heisei University. Yuka Masuda of the female idol group AKB48 and Nobue Iketani also star in the television version.
The manga already inspired a mini-series of three shorts this past June as part of the Aoyama 1seg Kaihatsu collection of pilots. By a substantial margin, viewers voted the mini-series as the #1 Aoyama 1seg Kaihatsu project to expand into a full regular series. The new series of 20 five-minute shorts will launch on NHK's 1seg 2 digital channel on October 29 at 12:30 p.m. The first three episodes of the new series will actually be repeats of the three episodes from the previous mini-series.
The original manga runs in Kodansha's Kiss and Kiss Plus women's manga magazines.
