2nd Tono to Issho TV Anime's DVDs to Add Gackt Extras
posted on by Egan Loo
The first of two DVD volumes for the Tono to Issho: Gantai no Yabō television anime series will ship on May 25 with a new bonus extra called "Gackt to Issho (Part I)." Tono to Issho: Gantai no Yabō will be the second television series based on Ohba-Kai's Tono to Issho four-panel historical gag manga. The manga follows the humorous exploits of generals during Japan's tumultuous sengoku (Era of the Warring States) period.
Singer and actor Gackt made a special guest appearance as the legendary warlord Uesugi Kenshin in the earlier Tono to Issho video anime last year. Not concidentally, Gackt played the same historical figure in the live-action drama Fūrinkazan and 2007's Kōhaku Uta Gassen ("Red and White Song Battle") competition.
Gackt already played himself for a bonus "Gackt mo Issho " anime extra last year. He then appeared in the first Tono to Issho television anime, and he will reprise the Uesugi Kenshin role in the second series.
Besides the bonus "Gackt to Issho" extra, the first Tono to Issho: Gantai no Yabō DVD will also contain the first six television episodes, a visual commentary with director Mankyū and voice actor Tatsuhisa Suzuki (Masamune Date), promotional cast videos, the first version of the opening animation footage without the superimposed text credits, the first promotional video, and the commercial that announced the sequel.
Tono to Issho: Gantai no Yabō will premiere on Japanese television next month.
