2nd year with no grand prizes; anime studio gives no scenario, manga prizes
The official website of the anime studio Kyoto Animation (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Lucky Star, K-ON!) announced the results of the second Kyoto Animation Award program on Thursday. However, the studio awarded no grand prizes in any category, and no honorable mentions at all were named in the scenario and manga categories. There were no grand prizes last year as well.
Kyoto Animation announced the award program in 2009 and offered 300,000-yen (about US$3,600) grand prizes and 100,000-yen (US$1,200) honorable mention prizes in novel, manga, and scenario (script treatment) categories. In the first year, the rules noted that popular winning entries were to have had a chance at being animated by Kyoto Animation, but the rules for the second year do not mention this possibility.
The results are as follows:
No winners
Machi de Ichiban Chiisana Jiken by Izumi Tōka
Kyōkai no Kanata by Nagomu Torii
High Speed! by Kōji Ōji
Katasukunisensu by Hamu Jōjima

Update: Kyoto Animation opened an official website for one of last year's novel honorable mentions, Chūni-byō demo Koi ga Shitai! by Tora Tora, and the site says that the novel will be released on paperback. Thanks, Cloud668.
