Square Enix confirmed that an undisclosed number of employees were laid off from its Los Angeles offices.

Square Enix public relations director Riley Brennan stated, "In order to ensure it is operating effectively, the Square Enix Los Angeles office has reduced its workforce. This was a difficult decision and we wish the best for those affected by these changes."

Brennan went on to say that the staff changes would not affect any of Square Enix's Massive-Multiplayer Online (MMO) titles, including the Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn launch. The game is expected to launch early next year, with beta testing scheduled from late January to early February.
